This book consists of two parts. The first is an efficient, if somewhat standard, treatment of function theory beginning with the Nevanlinna formalism, and passing through normal families, a brief mention of univalent functions, and a thorough treatment of \(H_ p\) spaces up to the late 1940s. The book concludes with a careful chapter on vector- valued analysis, which is rather independent of the earlier portions. The exposition is careful, and includes singular integral equations, boundary-value problems and Cauchy-type integrals; much is influenced by the research of the first author. The references to contemporary literature are very limited, including sources where applications of this theory are likely to be found. There are no exercises, but the exposition is very clear and accurate.
