The paper is devoted to a new concept related to fuzzy matrices, called margin rank, introduced by the same authors in a previous paper [ibid. 38, No. 3, 355-364 (1990; Zbl 0726.15002)]. An algorithm for the estimation of the margin rank of a fuzzy matrix is proposed. Using examples it is demonstrated that the algorithm can be practically employed for matrices involving up to 30 fuzzy elements.
