This paper is concerned with 2-knots in \(S^ 2\times S^ 2\) which are homologous to \(S^ 2\times\{point\}\); these are studied by means of the homology 4-sphere \(\Sigma\) obtained by surgery on the knot. It is shown that such knots are classified by means of \(\pi_ 1(\Sigma)\) and a weight element. Examples are given of infinitely many distinct knots with isomorphic \(\pi_ 1(\Sigma)\).
