A new method is proposed: a fixed space step and alternative time steps are adopted in the arbitrary choosing of an explicit difference scheme to improve stability conditions for explicit difference schemes which are used to solve parabolic equations. Necessary and sufficient conditions for stability are obtained. Numerical examples show some advantages of this method.
