The paper extends the validity of two uniform asymptotic representations in the complex plane of the Jacobi polynomials \(P_ n^{\alpha,\beta}(z)\) to the interval \((-1,0)\) of the parameter \(\alpha\). The formulas are derived from a known complete asymptotic expansion involving modified Bessel functions, and extended to \(\alpha>- 1\) by recurrence relations.
