An epidemic model is considered in which the death rate is population dependent, and the effect of vaccination is discussed. An equilibrium analysis is done and the effect of small perturbations around the equilibrium position is determined. The biological implications of these results are examined. (Similar results are presented for modifications of the basic model.) The results are useful in analysing endemic diseases, and provide some sort of guide to the proportion of a population requiring vaccination to eliminate the disease.
