Using some demonstration problems the authors point out a simple correction strategy to eliminate the leading error term at the free boundary when it crosses over rectangular grids of the finite difference scheme. Very suggestive figures of the solutions, residuals on the free boundary and corrected residuals on the free boundary of the demonstration problems are displayed.
