A method is proposed for the approximation of single-valued curves in polar coordinates by using \(B\)-spline techniques. The resultant curves are piecewise splines that are composed of rational Bézier segments. An application is given for the construction of single-valued surfaces in cylindrical coordinates, which has interesting applications for solid- modeling purposes.
