Calculations of curvature continuous cubic splines (Q1195750)

For curvature continuous cubic splines the author discusses recursion formulas and de Boor-like algorithms. In particular, a recursion formula found by \textit{T. N. T. Goodman} and \textit{K. Unsworth} [Generation of \(\beta\)-spline curves using a recurrence relation, in: Earnshaw (ed.), Fundamental algorithms for computer graphics. NATO ASI Series, Springer, Berlin, 325-357 (1985)] and the corresponding de Boor-like algorithm are considered. These are compared with a recursion formula based on a de Boor-like algorithm published by \textit{W. Boehm} [Comput. Aided Geom. Des. 2, 313-323 (1985; Zbl 0645.53002)]. The properties of the coefficients of the algorithms are investigated. Some illustrating figures complete the paper.
