The authors describe a method for the generation of a blending surface along the intersection of three (implicit) surfaces. Their method is a generalization of the potential method for blending two surfaces, which was introduced and studied by \textit{C. Hoffmann} and \textit{J. Hopcroft} [Quartic blending surfaces, ibid. 18, 301-306 (1986)]. It allows the blending function to include four parameters: one \((\mu)\) for the curvature distribution, the three for the range control of the edge blends, where the latter ones can be determined independently of \(\mu\). Several illustrative color plates are presented.
