A particular type of complex algebraic varieties, arising as completion of the invariant manifold of a generalized algebraic complete integrable system, is studied. The author proves that in dimension 2 the invariant surfaces are of general type and calculates (in principle) their birational invariants. Using Painlevé analysis, a compactification of the invariant surfaces for a Goryachev-Chaplygin top system is also constructed.
