The modeling of open mass continuum mixtures (Q1197208)

The balance laws for mixture mass, constituent mass, linear momentum and moment of momentum, mixture energy and entropy are obtained in this paper for describing evolution of heterogeneous mixture of several different constituents. They take into account some interaction terms and supply terms. The jump conditions for bodies with discontinuities are presented. A general solution to the entropy production inequality is then used to obtain phenomenological constitutive relationships for mixture stress, heat flux, mass flux and chemical species production rate.
