This paper contains an overview of kinematic descriptions of the plastic spin and of constitutive equations which have been proposed by different authors. A critical examination of different plastic spin constitutive laws from a micromechanical point of view as well as from the standpoint of deterministic irreversible thermodynamics is made. An analytical multiple slip model for macroscopic deformations is presented.
