The aim of this paper is to prove a local in time existence and uniquness of a smooth solution to the initial value problem for partial differential equations of motion in geometrically nonlinear elasticity, i.e. for equations of motion of inhomogeneous and anisotropic elastic medium governed by Hooke's linear law.
