The author tries to find a relation between the kinematics of the theory of effective media, constituent of a multiphase medium and the interpenetrating continua for infinitesimal strains. The analysis is based on the relations between appropriate strain rates. Adopting assumptions which made possible a comparison, there are performed considerations with the aid of the space averaging method.
