Unitary \(t\)-congruence and orthogonal \(t\)-congruence on complex or real square matrices are introduced. The relationship between different kinds of matrices: symmetric, general square, skew-symmetric matrices and \(t\)- congruence is studied. The characterizations of linear operators are obtained on various matrix spaces that preserve \(t\)-congruence.
