Consider a given lot of product where the product quality is determined by a single, normally distributed random variable with unknown expectation \(\mu\). The problem is investigated, how to choose a sampling plan by variables taking into account prior information about the incoming quality given by \(P(\mu\leq u)\geq \gamma\) and being economically optimal. Moreover an estimator for the input parameters \(u\) and \(\gamma\) is given, and its impact on the performance of the sampling plan is analysed.
