Indem Verf. alleine die wohlbekannte Kettenbruchentwicklung von \(e\) benützt, zeigt er, daß für alle \((p,q)\in\mathbb{Z}^ 2\) mit \(q\geq 2\) gilt \[ | e-p/q|>(\log\log q)/(3q^ 2\log q). \] Resultate in derselben Richtung erzielten \textit{C. S. Davis} [J. Aust. Math. Soc., Ser. A 25, 497-502 (1978; Zbl 0393.10038)] und der Ref. [Math. Ann. 192, 229- 242 (1971; Zbl 0206.058)].
