The authors use the nonlinear water wave equations with the effect of vertical excitation exerted on the wave trough to derive a modified \((1+1)\)-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation. This equation is employed to examine the stability of its solution. They also explain the phenomenon of passing-through and oscillating about each other of a pair of solitary waves in a rectangular water trough. Several properties of these solitary waves are discussed and compared with experimental findings. This paper is not well written because of the authors' poor knowledge of the English language. However, it is an interesting work and would be of some interest to members of nonlinear water waves and soliton dynamics.
