The author suggests a numerical algorithm to recover a piecewise constant coefficient \(c\) of the wave equation \(u_{tt}-c(x)u_{xx}=0\) from the Fourier transform of \(u_ t(0,t)\) which consists of calculation of certain Fourier coefficients and algebraic operations.
