[The articles of this volume will not be indexed individually.] The present proceedings of the XIIth international conference on numerical methods in fluid dynamics are devoted to the six themes: algorithmic development, hypersonic flows, environmental flows, parallel computing, transition and turbulence, and propulsion systems. Seven invited papers appearing first, render an excellent survey on the state of the art in the particular field under consideration. They are followed by contributed papers of different lengths, some of them are short abstracts only. Although it is impossible to review and to evaluate the articles of this volume individually, it can be said that everybody interested in computational fluid dynamics and numerical techniques should have these proceedings on his book-shelf for reference purposes and as a source for further research.
