The heat equation is considered in a periodic medium with heat conduction coefficient having a singularity of \(\delta\)-function type. Using homogenization, an averaged integral identity is derived which does not contain singularities. An asymptotic expansion of the solution is given with respect to a parameter \(\varepsilon>0\), with terms which can be derived succesively.
