The creeping translation of a Newtonian droplet through a viscoelastic continuous fluid is studied for the particular case in which a surfactant monolayer is adsorbed onto the droplet interface. By using a second-order fluid model to describe the mechanics of the viscoelastic phase, perturbation solutions from Newtonian behavior are constructed for the retarded motion in the low Weissenberg number limit when the viscoelastic relaxation times are much faster than the time scale for convective flow and the surfactant distribution is governed by sorption kinetics.
