On the geometry of quadratic differentials in the disk (Q1205496)

The author considers regular quadratic differentials of finite norm in the unit disc \(D\) (i.e., regular functions \(\varphi(z)\) with \(\iint_ D| \varphi(z)| dA_ z<\infty)\) and the corresponding metric \(|\varphi(z)|^{1\over 2}| dz|\). He treats some routine problems on the boundary behavior of the corresponding geodesics, closely related to some of his earlier work [Quadratic differentials (1984; Zbl 0547.30001); Ann. Acad. Sci. Fenn., Ser. A I 10, 365-376 (1985; Zbl 0598.30062)]. He does not seem to be aware of the work of \textit{Li Zhong} [Sci. Sin., Ser. A 28, 604-615 (1985; Zbl 0598.30061)] in which some related problems were considered under less restrictive conditions.
