The purpose of the paper is to calculate the relative strain when the vector field is the four-velocity of a family of observers who move on spatially circular orbits in the Schwarzschild space-time. The physical measurements which can be made in the rest frame of these observers are of particular interest since they allow a direct manifestation of peculiar properties of the space-time.
