The author studies the spike layer solution for a quasilinear singular perturbation problem \(\varepsilon y''+f(x,y)y'+g(x,y)=0\), \(y(a)=A\), \(y(b)=B\). A necessary condition for the existence of a spike layer solution is derived, and sufficient conditions for spike layer behavior together with estimates on the width and height of the spikes are presented.
