The authors study a class of infinite matrices that have many properties similar to those of finite Toeplitz matrices. Based on this they investigate a class of vector valued functions that are orthogonal with respect to a matrix weight function and are similar to the classical Szegö polynomials. Among other results we denote those concerning with some inverse problems.
