The axial symmetric twisting of infinite nonlinear elastic tubes of arbitrary thickness is examined. The governing equations are reduced to a boundary value problem for a system of ordinary differential equations. For a variety of special material behaviour, analytical and numerical solutions of this equations are obtained and the corresponding torque- twist relations are given. For Blatz-Ko material, kinks (elastic shocks) are found for a range of torques and geometries.
