Let \(\Lambda\) be a monomial relation algebra over a field \(k\) [\textit{E. L. Green}, \textit{D. Happel} and \textit{D. Zacharia}, Ill. J. Math. 29, 180-190 (1985; Zbl 0551.16008)]. The authors show that \(\Lambda\) has finite global dimension iff the relative cyclic homology of its (Jacobian) radical is equal to zero. Then some relations with \textit{W. D. Burgess'} result [Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 30, 351-362 (1987; Zbl 0608.16028)] are examined.
