Authors apply eigenvalue analysis to finite difference formulations of Euler and Navier-Stokes equations for two-dimensional flows. Convergence and stability properties are studied in detail. It is shown that, by shifting of the implicit operator in question, the efficiency of the solution can rather easily be improved.
