This paper is an attempt to devise a method for evaluating the effective temperature of a black hole, say a Vaidya black hole. It is based on the non-motivated requirement that in a particular system of coordinates, the Klein-Gordon equation should reduce to the wave equation, after arbitrarily neglecting a few terms.
