Lifted transformations on the tangent bundle, and symmetries of particle motion (Q1209244)

In the first part of the paper, the authors study different kinds of lifts of vector fields on a pseudo-Riemannian manifold to its tangent bundle. Then the geometric results are applied to the symmetries in particle motion. In particular, this includes the important but little- known ``matter symmetries'' of relativistic kinetic theory.
