The congruences in theorems 1 and 2 of the original paper [ibid. 65, No. 3, 413-433 (1990; Zbl 0728.14035)] are not obstructions to smoothability. Theorem 2 is valid by a paper by \textit{H. Esnault}, \textit{J. Seade} and \textit{E. Viehweg} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 424, 17-33 (1992; Zbl 0752.14008)] without the assumption of smoothability and the lemma of paragraph 1 calculating the Rokhlin invariant is unaffected.
