The authors show for \(U\)-statistics and studentized \(U\)-statistics the validity of \textit{D. M. Mason} and \textit{M. A. Newton's} [Ann. Stat. 20, No. 3, 1611-1624 (1992); see the following entry] generalized bootstrap for distribution approximation. Their unified approach, based on rank statistics methodology, is valid for all weight vectors previously considered in the literature.
