Celtic knotwork: Mathematical art (Q1209802)

The author gives an extensive, interesting description of the symmetry types of the famous celtic knot patterns. E.g., he investigates which 2- sided frieze patterns are realized by such knot patterns. In view of further studies, the question for finer classification of celtic knotworks (namely in terms of pattern types instead of symmetry types) is posed.
