Hamiltonian systems which arise from the KdV equation and its Lax pair after imposing the constraint \(u=\sum_ i q_ i q_ i\) are discussed. It is shown that these systems can be constructed by the recursion operator and that their independent integrals of motion are in involution. Consequently, such Hamiltonian systems are completely integrable in the Liouville sense.
