Charles Loewner: collected papers. Ed. by Lipman Bers (Q1210743)

The present collection contains all but seven of the forty items listed in the bibliography of [Karl Löwner; Karel Löwner] Charles Loewner's works. Seven of the included papers are in German; the remaining twenty- six are in English. Of the omitted items, one is a review; one a research announcement of a subsequently published paper (which is included in this collection); two are chapters (III and XVI) contributed to Die Differential- und Integralgleichungen der Mechanik und Physik (Ph. Frank and R. v. Mises, editors); two are mimeographed lecture notes; and one a book (Theory of continuous groups). The included thirty-three items span wide areas of complex analysis, differential geometry, differential equations, and fluid mechanics. Also included is a brief but interesting biographical introduction to Loewner's life and work.
