A theorem, due to G. Grätzer and E. T. Schmidt, stating that every algebraic lattice is isomorphic to the congruence lattice of a finitary algebra is proved anew. The new proof is independent of and shorter than the original one. The proof is based on a few graph-theoretical concepts, yet it is self-contained.
