Given a group \(G\), its automorphism group \(\mathrm{Aut}\; G\) acts as a group of permutations an the set of all subgroups of \(G\). The authors characterize all those abelian groups \(G\) for which the orbits determined by this action of \(\mathrm{Aut}\; G\) are precisely the isomorphism classes of subgroups of \(G\).
