Firstly, based on a different measure of the distance of spectra, one derives analogues of the Hoffman-Wieland theorem and a Weyl-type theorem. A well-known open conjecture concerning the existence of a cutting point in the Weyl-type theorems is also proved. Secondly, the Cauchy interlacing theorem for Hermitian matrices is generalized. Finally, a result on block reflectors is proved.
