The author considers two particular three-dimensional deformations of planar membranes formed with two families of continuously distributed elastic cords. The cords can only transmit tension, not compression and bending. Then the membrane cannot support the tangential compression. The author also assumes that the membrane cannot resist shearing, and he does not attempt to solve the specific boundary value problems. He rather tries to find the whole deformation and the tensions on the boundary which can maintain such deformations.
