The author analyzes in detail the different aspects of problems concerned with the solution of ordinary differential equations for computer users. A modular, multilevel design of a solver code for ordinary differential equations (ODEs) is described. A simple pilot implementation realized on Fortran 77 and worked out on linear multistep formula methods is explicitly considered.
