It is shown that the generalized torsion problem in anisotropic elasticity is completely analogous to a certain problem of piezoelectricity for cylindrical bodies. This analogy is based on the similarity of the governing equations and boundary conditions. The major drawback of the idea is that the results are dependent on the material properties.
