The author discusses the linearization of an initial value problem associated with a special second Painlevé equation using an isomonodromic spectral problem. Further, properties of the monodromy data are deduced and these properties are used to reduce the problem to a linear singular integral equation via Riemann-Hilbert boundary value problem on an imaginary line. Some special asymptotic solutions are also presented.
