The impulse train obtained by sampling an analog signal is studied directly. It is shown to represent the signal in a weak sense and to converge to the signal as the sampling interval converges to \(0\). The convergence is in the sense of Sobolev spaces and in the sense of another Hilbert space for which the shifted ``delta functions'' are orthogonal.
