By explicit calculations of the Hecke eigenvalues, it is shown that certain torsion classes in the cohomology of \(SL_2({\mathcal O})\), where \({\mathcal O}\) is a special ring of \(S\)-integers, give rise to Galois representations with Frobenius traces equal to the corresponding Hecke eigenvalues.
