The authors construct hyperovals in all finite Figueroa planes of even order; this extends results of \textit{W. E. Cherowitzo} [J. Geom. 37, No. 1/2, 84-86 (1990; Zbl 0704.51006)] on ovals in finite Figueroa planes of odd order. Furthermore the authors show that all Figueroa planes of finite square order possess unitary polarities, and hence admit unitals.
