The author defines HNN extensions in Lie algebras where derivations of a Lie algebra become inner in the extension. Using this he shows for instance (Theorem 7.2): Every finite- or countable-dimensional Lie algebra \(A\) can be embedded in a Lie algebra \(H\) generated by two elements. If \(A\) has a presentation with \(n\) relations, so does \(H\).
