The authors investigate the instability of an elastica with overhang under a follower force. The base of the elastica is hinged, and is also elastically restrained against the rotation. The upper portion of the elastica is supported by a frictionless support, so that the elastica may slide along it during the deformation under the follower force. The follower force is located at the fixed position of the support. The problem is solved using static analysis.
