The study is concerned with the deposition of submicron particles in a longitudinal flow over a heated isothermal vertical cylinder. The convective boundary layer model allows for both Brownian motion of particles and for thermophoretic transport. Using a finite difference method, the author proves that the effect of thermophoresis increases with particle size and distance along the cylinder. The study is complemented by experiments.
